Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register my dog for a class?
Registration is held the second and last Tuesday of each month from 6:15 to 7:00pm at the SDTC grounds
Can I register for a class by phone or email.
No, we only allow registration in person.
My dog is around 4 months old. Do I sign up for puppy or beginners.
This is one of the most common questions. Dogs that are around 4 months old may still benefit from puppy class. Puppy class works more on socialization whereas beginners class works more on getting the dog to listen to your commands. Your dogs maturity level and size will be the determining factors in what class you choose. We have already had older small dogs in a puppy class and have had 4 to 5 month old puppys in beginners obedience. If you have any question as to which class you should sign up for, please contact us.
I am interested in signing up for Agility, what do I need to do.
Unlike obedience classes, Agility classes at SDTC are seasonal. Class sizes are restricted to keep the class moving. We offer several "rounds" of agility classes each year. See the Agility Class Schedule on our Class Schedule page for dates and times of upcoming classes.
My dog is badly behaved and barks alot when around other dogs, should I keep him out of class so we are not a disturbence?
This is why you want your dog in obedience class right? We will work with you on helping to fix any problems you may have with your dog.
Do you offer private training?
No. The Sheboygan Dog Training Club does not offer private training.
I have a young puppy that hasn't had all his/her shots yet, can I still register for a class.
Yes, as long as your puppy has all shots to date as recommended by your vet. If not, make sure they are up-to-date by the first class. Bring proof to class.
Do I need to bring my dog to registration?
Please do not bring your dog to registration. It is not required and it can actually make registration more difficult because you will be filling out paper work. If your dog needs to be fitted with a collar and lead, this will be done at the first class.
